Cosmelan® 2 is a medical-grade home care treatment to improve mild to moderate hyperpigmentation disorders and treat the visible signs of ageing. The active ingredients in this product may result in some side effects. Dry skin, redness, and sensitivity is some of the normal side effects which you may experience while using this product. To alleviate these side effects, we recommend the following tips: 

• Decrease the frequency of use. You may decide to decrease the frequency of use so that your skin gradually adjusts to the active ingredients in this product. 
• Make sure that you use this cream only on skin that has used good quality skincare in the past. A damaged skin barrier will exacerbate symptoms and may result in post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. 
• The following post-care products should be used with Cosmelan® 2 Cream to alleviate discomfort.
• Mesoestetic Melan recovery: use daily over your Cosmelan® 2 Cream.
• Soopa Skin Spray: To speed up recovery (use on dry clean skin and allow to dry naturally).
• Melan 130 Pigment control: Sun protection is vital as the skin will be more sensitive to sun exposure while using the product. 
• Excessive dryness incorporates Mesoestetic HA Densimatrix underneath your Cosmelan® 2 Cream.
• For excessive sensitivity apply Mesoestetic Skin Balance Concentrate underneath your Cosmelan® 2 Cream.

With Cosmelan® 2, we treat all types of pigmentation, including those triggered by Hormonal, genetic and acne, and worsened by sun exposure. Cosmelan® 2 is effective in treating melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), solar lentigo, senile lentigo, and freckles.
• Please note that all forms of hyperpigmentation a chronic skin disorder and lifelong compliance with skin care products are needed to ensure the pigmentation does not return after you stop using your skin care products. 

Is it safe to use on darker skin types?
Yes, Cosmelan® 2 is safe for any skin tone. However, for darker skin types, it is crucial to prepare the skin adequately before starting the treatment and provide ample soothing support during the period that you use the product. This will also be dependent on how often you use Cosmelan® 2. The more frequently you use it, the more sensitive your skin will become. We recommend using Mesoestetic Skin retin cream to gradually introduce retinoids into your routine, before starting with Cosmelan® 2.

Can I use Cosmelan® 2 during the summer months?
Cosmelan® 2 can be used year-round, though it is advisable to use it when sun exposure is less intense, such as in winter and autumn. If used in summer or hot regions, you must take extra care, use a very high sunscreen like Mesoprotech Melan 130 Pigment control, and avoid prolonged sun exposure.

Will my pigmentation get darker initially?
Yes, initially your pigmentation may darken as the pigment-laden skin cells move through the skin layers to be exfoliated off. As the treatment progresses and pigment production decreases, the dark appearance will fade.

Is it normal to experience dryness and flaking for a long time?
Yes, it is normal. Cosmelan® 2 focuses on removing pigment-laden cells from the skin's surface, causing dryness and flaking. Initial irritation or redness may occur but will subside. Slight peeling and sensitivity are common and should diminish with continued use of recommended home products. Should you wish to decrease the frequency of use you may do so, to reduce the sensitivity experienced while using the product. 

Why is it sensitive around my eyes and mouth even if I do not apply the product there?
The active ingredients in Cosmelan® 2 penetrate deeply and may migrate to more fragile areas like the eyes and mouth, causing sensitivity due to fewer sebaceous glands in these areas.

Can I reduce the frequency of applying Cosmelan® 2 Cream?
If you experience severe reactions, you can reduce the application to once a day until your skin recovers, then resume the twice-a-day application as the skin becomes less sensitive. You may also use the product less frequently such as 2-3 times a week if your pigmentation is not severe. 

What can I use to reduce sensitivity?

Do I have to follow the entire treatment protocol, or can I just use the Cosmelan® 2 Cream alone?
